An arts graduate from Govt College of Arts & Crafts, Kolkata (1990), Rajat Subhra Bandopadhyay was an advertising professional till 2011. That's when he decided to pursue full time painting and had a burning desire to 'revive' watercolours in India.

Often considered as a relatively easy medium, watercolour is one of the toughest mediums to work with and Rajat has well mastered this. Watercolour remains his forte and he likes to capture the nature, landscapes, abandoned objects through his work. Rajat will like to preserve nature. In today’s world, nature is gradually perishing and he likes to retain its beauty and essence through his watercolour paintings. He wants watercolours to be established as an iconic medium in arts.

Rajat is the Country Leader of Fabriano InAcquarello (India) since 2016. He has led many workshops, demonstrations and art tours across cities in India, Bangladesh, Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Thailand, and Nepal.

He works out of his residence cum studio in New Delhi, India.
